Etna is not just about central craters! It is a huge mountain rich in surreal and spectacular landscapes. One of these is the Valle del Bove: an immense volcanic depression caused by the collapse of an ancient volcanic building.
This spectacle is best enjoyed from the north and south ridges that delimit it, from which, depending on the weather conditions and other factors, the excursion will be chosen. Although the characteristics may differ, the result is always the same: an immersion in the wild nature of the volcano, characterised by volcanic sand and pioneer plants that have adapted to a unique and unrepeatable environment, culminating in a breathtaking view of the impressive Valle del Bove: an enormous desert of solidified lava dominated by Etna’s summit rising up almost vertically from the valley floor.
It’s one of the most beautiful views offered by the volcano, but it doesn’t end here. We’ll continue along the ridge overlooking the valley and the latest eruptions, having fun on the coarse sand leading up to the Silvestri Craters.
A simple but striking loop over a varied route showing not only the different phases and activity of Etna, but also offering a breathtaking landscape with a little bit of adventure!
